介绍（英）	Domenico Campagnola, the adopted son of the painter and engraver Giulio Campagnola, became a noted draftsman, engraver, and painter in his own right. He executed numerous drawings, primarily of landscapes, intended as finished works of art; Domenico has thus been called the first “draftsman by profession.” This sheet is an excellent example of his early style, which was influenced by Titian. The variation of the pen line—from the broad, heavy cross-hatching in the foreground to the more dense lines in the distant buildings— imparts a rhythmic intensity to this otherwise tranquil scene.
