介绍（英）	A successful history painter from a family of artists, Lagrenée was exposed to antiquity while studying in Rome as a young man. Over the course of his career, and in tandem with the times, his style moved steadily toward Neoclassicism. Although he had made some etchings in his youth, he adopted aquatint in the mid-1780s. This two-colored aquatint, evocative of the designs on ancient vases, was part of a collection of prints, all dating to around the time he was appointed artistic director at the Sèvres porcelain manufactory.
