介绍（中）	在亲人下葬时，会向家人或密友赠送殡仪勺。这把勺子柄正面的铭文指的是1688年或1689年去世的玛丽亚·范·伦斯勒尔。玛丽亚于1662年与耶雷米亚斯·范·伦斯勒尔结婚，但她本人就是范·科特兰人。首字母缩写"M G"是玛丽亚的曾孙女Magdelena Douw的名字，她于1740年与Harme Gansevoort结婚。因此，这个器皿代表了几个荷兰裔纽约显赫家族的交织。
介绍（英）	Funeral spoons were presented to family members or close friends upon the burial of loved ones. The inscription on the front of this spoon’s handle refers to Maria Van Rensselaer, who died in 1688 or 1689. Maria had married Jeremias Van Rensselaer in 1662 but was herself a Van Cortlandt. The initials “M G” are those of Maria’s great-granddaughter, Magdelena Douw, who married Harme Gansevoort in 1740. This utensil, therefore, represents the intertwining of several prominent New York families of Dutch descent.
