介绍（中）	根据奥维德（变形记1.253-444）的说法，木星用普遍的洪水摧毁了巨人鲜血产生的暴力种族。当水退去时，巨大的蟒蛇出现并被阿波罗杀死，如这幅雕刻的前景所示。在背景中，阿波罗以胜利为荣，嘲笑丘比特（希腊爱神）试图挥舞弓，这种武器不适合他矮小的身材。在左边，丘比特施展了他的复仇，瞄准了阿波罗的心脏，那支带来爱的金色箭。丘比特已经射杀了仙女达芙妮——在远处看到她过着处女女猎人的生活——但用一支铅尖的箭让她对爱情充满敌意。
介绍（英）	According to Ovid (Metamorphoses 1.253-444), Jupiter destroyed the violent race that arose from the blood of the Giants with a universal flood. When the waters receded, the monstrous Python emerged and was slain by Apollo, as seen in the foreground of this engraving. In the background, Apollo, in the pride of his victory, mocks Cupid (the Greek Eros) for attempting to wield the bow, a weapon unsuited to his diminutive stature. To the left, Cupid exacts his revenge, aiming at Apollo's heart the golden arrow that inflicts love. Cupid has already shot the nymph Daphne-seen in the distance leading the life of a virgin huntress-but with a lead-tipped arrow that has made her hostile to love.
