介绍（英）	A significant addition to the Museum's British holdings, Sir Peter Lely’s "A Knight of the Order of the Garter," represents a young knight pausing to bow during the Garter’s great annual ceremonial procession. The work comes from a series considered the most important series of Baroque drawings produced in 17th-century England. Conveying the glamor of Charles II’s restoration court, it survives as a haunting record of an ambitious, but unrealized, decorative scheme, most likely for a tapestry series. Delicately applied black and white chalks blend Lely’s native Dutch naturalism with the elegantly expressive line he admired in Van Dyck to produce a style that established figure drawing in Britain.
